Happy New Year!
Currently it is 25F w/ light snow and we may have received 1" - 2" last night. Yesterday John N. took the BR-60+ out for a quick spin in the Tree Farm but was having alternator problems and headed back in for repairs. The rest of the grooming gang had the day off so we took a ride through the tree farm and Perkins to check on conditions.
John B. had groomed the river trail C4 from HM100 to HM117 and it was passable. Not in great shape but OK. We took S41 from HM117 to Elm Lake road. Once again passable but our Polaris HUV buddy tore that trail to shreds. Once we hit S41D at HM118 the Trail was MINT! Thanks John N. We rode Elm Lake Road to Long Level and then Long Level to the lower steel bridge. All board flat and mint. We took Fly Creek towards Old Rt 30 which had not been groomed due to logging. Deep snow but lots of fun. We encountered the logging at HM123. No way to get through so we turned around and headed back S41D.
At HM118 we headed up S41 to check on the status of the new bridge. All week the town has been skidding in stringers and planking so the trail is real rough. The wood is all in and hopefully the bridge will be done by next weekend. We followed S41 to S41C back to C4. A quick trip up into Perkins to Mason Lake was all flat and fast in great shape. The trail back to the Village as well as all Village trails were getting real thin and choppy due to lots of traffic.
Bottom Line ... we will be back out today and tonight but more snow is needed to get the trails back in shape.
Thank you to our groomer Operators .... John N., John B., Paul A., and Aaron.
