Yesterday Bob C. and son spent the morning completing the signing for the Village Trails. We did not groom yesterday because the temps were only in the mid twenties and the groomers would break through in the swamps.
In the afternoon we took a spin on the snowmachine to see how the trails survived. Here is the summary: LP1 Page Street:
| Great: Groomed by the town and still smooth. Few people riding the lakes so it should stay that way.
| | Lake Pleasant: | Fast w/ just enough cover to lube. Watch out for frozen tracks & bumps. | | LP4 River trail: | 100% passable from the ballfield to HM100. The river is high and there are signs of water so be careful things may change. | | C4 HM100 - HM103: | Good but bumpy from the burn pit to Elm Lake Road but still some open water on the sides of the trail were the BR-110 broke through. We did not ride to HM103 due to the swamps on the north side of Elm Lake Rd. | | C4 HM103 - HM104: | No way .... take LP3! | | LP4 HM101 to Mt Market: | Bumpy and ready for a groom. One mudhole behind the school but its bark is worse the the bite. | | LP4 HM103 to Chas Johns: | Nope! Swamp behind store is high. Use the new trail from Mt. Market to Chas Johns - Excellent shape! | | LP3 Oak Mt: | Good all the way through. The ice bridge we build over the running creek before the tennis courts held but go slow. | | C4 HM104 - HM105: | OUCH! Passable but ROUGH. We will try and groom this section today but I'm not sure how we will do it. | | C4 to Perkins: | Unknown but the LP groomer should have made a pass on it yesterday. | | LP2 to Melody Lodge: | Great |
It is 15 F w/ light snow this am and the water holes and swamps should be setup by now. We will be out and about grooming / fixing the trails today so please watch out for us. We will use the BIG BR60+ to groom the Village trails and we will send Skandic and/or the BR-110 to Page Hill to make repairs.
Have a safe and happy New Year and remember .... Support the businesses that support our sport!
